All you need to know about Ostrichpillow, special travel or office pillows that allow you to rest wherever you are.

Ostrichpillow, with these pillows you can sleep wherever you are

Have you ever traveled on a Rome-Cancun flight? Have you ever taken the Frecciabianca Lecce-Milan? Or did you spend six hours on a bus that would take you home after a week of work outside the region? The routes of some do you travel they can be long and stressful. Not to mention the long ones lunch breaks for those who live too far from their workplace and can’t make it back in time for a plate of pasta and a nap. Napping during breaks and while traveling will no longer be a problem with Ostrichpillow.

These are some models of pillows that allow you to rest anywhere. The name is composed of “ostrich” (it is a false friend which means ostrich) and «pillow» (ie I cook). In fact, inside these cushions you can put your head or part of it to receive various benefits: there is the model for those who need a cervical support (especially during a trip), the one for feeling enveloped in darkness, the one for those who want to isolate themselves from the world for a while even acoustically. They are all made of soft and warm fabric, so perhaps in the hottest months it is not ideal.

In 2012 – we read in Studio Banana, which produces these cushions – we embarked on our most iconic journey ever. After years of professional experience and in-depth analysis of human behavior, we have come to a simple and universal truth: the world needs more sleep. In today’s work environment, sleep deprivation has become almost chronic and has serious consequences on our physical and emotional well-being. We knew there had to be a healthier and more effective solution to excessive caffeine consumption. Our motivation was to discover this solution by designing a product that would profoundly improve people’s personal and professional lives on a global scale.

In other words, this “invention” is based on the fact that the sleep deprivation has dire consequences on workers, so the company has set to work on Ostrichpillows and has done so by creating something that is certainly comfortable, for some it will be more functional than for others, but it certainly has a design captivating and suggestive. So much so that Moma (Museum of Modern Art) and Tokyo Designers Week have dealt with this design. However, there are those who did a test with a model of these cushions (the “light” one, smaller) and, although they initially found them a bit ridiculous, they found them quite comfortable in the end.

The pillow is not perfect – writes in the Guardian Rhik Samadder – It should be reversible, but I found one side more comfortable than the other. It also keeps warm. The full size version should be like an oven with a porthole. But these are easy things to forgive. Nothing can redeem that plastic cauldron of suffering that is long-haul economy flight, but the pillow helps a lot. I was able to use it as a neck warmer when I had enough chilled air blown directly into my face, and slip it along the back of the seat just before my vertebrae were fully seated. This travel pillow has an alternative. I wish I had been brave enough for the alien and uncompromising weirdness of the original Ostrichpillow. But his presentable cousin is more for me. Under adverse conditions, it makes you fall asleep quickly.
