With baking soda, honey, toothpaste and turmeric: these are the natural ingredients to remove the mustache. Find out the one that suits you best!

Mustache: eliminate them or not? The choice is personal, it is not up to us to establish a diktat in terms of hair removal, as it was once done. After all, you will have noticed it too: thanks to the movement of the positive body, the standards of beauty are changing. You are more free to show yourself as you are or feel. In short, you are no less feminine with a few more hairs, so the war on unwanted hair is less … bloody!

But if the facial hair you just don’t like it, here are some natural remedies to take at home, without going to the beautician. In addition to the traditional do-it-yourself waxing, we propose some methods that reduce the mustache gradually, through regular practice. They are more suitable, however, if you have few, thin and not very noticeable hairs. In any case, our suggestion is to don’t make it an obsession, also because epilating the area above the upper lip too frequently means risking to get anti-aesthetic dark spots due to the trauma induced by the tear. And then, yes, you will feel like you have a permanent mustache that is difficult to lighten.

Remove the mustache with the baking soda

A natural remedy to eliminate mustache is through a batter obtained with coffee and baking soda. Proceed as follows: heat 250 ml of water until it boils, pour a tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of ground coffee. Stir until you get a homogeneous cream, and let it cool. At this point, apply the mixture over your upper lip, massage it in a circular motion 20 times, and then leave it on for 5 minutes. These operations allow you to weaken the hair and make them fall out gradually. Rinse and apply a moisturizer. To see results, you will need to repeat this method at least 3 times a week. Gradually the hair around the lips will reduce considerably.

Remove the mustache with honey

Another natural remedy to eliminate the mustache consists of a mixture based on honey, oatmeal and lemon. Also in this case, the hair removal is not immediate, but it is “progressive” over time, that is, it tends to weaken the hair until it reduces.
Do this: mix 2 tablespoons of honey, the juice of half a lemon and a tablespoon of oatmeal. If you can’t find the latter, you can grind the oat flakes into a rather fine powder. At this point, mix the ingredients until they blend into a thick cream. Apply it on the hair, massage with light circular movements and leave on for about ten minutes. Rinse with warm water, and repeat the process every 3 days.

Remove the mustache with toothpaste

Toothpaste can be useful for a home made wax to remove the hair from the upper lip. As long as it’s really subtle. Do this: mix the amount of toothpaste you would use to brush your teeth with a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of lemon. Apply the mixture to the skin and leave it on overnight to dry it well. The next morning, remove what remains of the mixture obtained: you will notice a reduction in the mustache, but not a complete elimination. For this reason, it is a method recommended only in the case of almost invisible hair.

The turmeric-based hair removal method

From India comes an effective ingredient to gradually reduce the hair around the lips and chin. It is the yellow ocher spice normally used in cooking for dishes with an exotic flavor. You can make a depilatory paste by mixing turmeric with chickpea flour and yogurt or with milk. Apply it on the mustache and leave it on for 15 minutes. Gently scrub to remove the paste – you will notice that the hair will also fall out. Rinse with warm water.

Waxing the mustache

The classic waxing remains the most effective method to eliminate the mustache in a “clean” way. Unlike the natural remedies mentioned above, the wax leaves the skin smooth and completely hair-free. Mixtures based on honey, toothpaste, baking soda or turmeric, on the other hand, give a more nuanced and natural result, like the one obtained with Arabian thread. The reason? Waxing also removes a very superficial layer of skin: for this reason it can cause irritation and redness which in some cases manifest themselves in pimples. Better to use it for thick and evident hair, then. And if your skin is resistant enough and not very sensitive.

Which wax to use for the mustache? The best solution is offered by special strips for the face and delicate areas. They are formulated with soothing ingredients such as calendula and chamomile which reduce the risk of irritation. In addition, the strips can be cut to better conform to the area to be depilated. It is very important to apply them only on the areas with hair, avoiding touching the skin and especially the lips. Proceed first on one side, i.e. half of the mustache, and then on the other side. Once the first strip is adhered, tear it with a firm movement and in the opposite direction, stretching the skin. Immediately after apply one soothing moisturizer or, if you have very delicate skin, a zinc oxide based paste such as those for baby diaper changes. Wait at least 24 hours before going out in the sun and avoid exfoliating your skin. You will avoid the risk of dark spots, much more likely due to tear-induced sensitization.

Remove the mustache with tweezers

You can remove the mustache with the tweezers? Yes, but only if they are truly isolated. The microtrauma caused by single and decisive extirpation for each hair can thicken the hair itself. You risk seeing the almost transparent hair transformed into black and hard hair. Better to resort to tweezers occasionally and not as a prevalent habit. It can also be a method to refine the hair removal obtained with the other methods or while waiting for a waxing.

The silkepil for the mustache

What about theelectric epilator for a delicate area like facial hair? Generally, this is not recommended unless the appliance you use for legs and other areas of the body has heads that are suitable for use on the face. The risk is always that of incurring skin irritation and thickening of the mustache.

Causes of mustache in women

But ultimately what are the causes of mustache in women? As long as it is a light fluff it is a completely normal phenomenon. If, on the other hand, the mustache should be more evident and thick, the causes are to be found in a small hormonal imbalance unbalanced towards testosterone, the male hormone which is also provided by the female body. Sometimes a very slight dysfunction is enough to see the hair on the face grow excessively. If in doubt, it is better to contact your doctor to investigate the real causes and take definitive action.
