Oriental women have now become an inexhaustible source of resources to offer us ideas for our everyday beauty routine; in fact, the idea of the double cleansing, especially from Korea and Japan.
In fact we are talking about a routine that is part of both the famous Korean skincare and the culture of geishas, who apparently use cleansing oils and then foaming cleansers to remove the white makeup, typical of this figure.
What is double cleansing?
As the name suggests we easily talk about sequences that point to cleanse your face twice: the first phase is aimed at remove make-up and fat-based impurities, such as smog, while the latter must eliminate dry residues, dead cells and dust.
To do this, of course, there is a need for more specific products that act in depth to eliminate any residue of dirt.
How double cleansing works
There are, as mentioned, various steps in double cleansing, and they must all be performed in order to be effective; the first step will therefore be to cleanse the skin, still made up, with a balm or oil designed ad hoc, passing the product on the dry face and massaging gently, especially in the T-zone, i.e. nose, forehead and chin, eyes and lips.
Once emulsified, these products tend to become whitish, and are particularly effective for the removal of waterproof makeup.
After completing this step you must completely remove everything, only with water or using a microfibre cloth to make a light scrub.
The second step involves moving on to cleansing, using a produced in cream, gel or mousse. The cleanser is applied on the palm of the hand, dry, and the fingers are used to massage it gently on the skin of the face, which is also perfectly dry, with circular movements, for about 30 seconds or, in any case, until the make-up does not it dissolved completely correctly.
Once this step is done, you rinse with warm water and dry your face with a soft towel. Always remember to dab, do not rub your face, and then proceed with the following steps aimed at hydration.
When is it better to double cleanse? It is generally recommended to perform it in the evening, when the skin tends to be more covered with make-up and dirt.
Benefits and advantages of double cleansing
Obviously the skin feels cleaner, softer and smoother, and the beauty of double cleansing is that it basically is suitable for all skin types.
It is generally indicated in particular for those who tend to use a rather heavy make-up, but, always remembering to use detergents that respect your skin type, it can have immediate benefits for each of us.
The only caution that we feel we can suggest is choose the aqueous detergent well: avoid purifying products if you have dry skin, those that hydrate too much if your skin tends to grease, and so on.
Double cleansing products
As we have seen, many products are not needed, but the real important thing is that they have a targeted action. There are two real must haves:
- a product a oily base, which can be a conditioner or an oil with which to emulsify the skin;
- a detergent, preferably in mousse.
Then there is another product to add only if you want, much loved in the homeland of double cleansing, Korea, which is the cleansing water, products with a very high moisturizing power that aim to eliminate the action of butters and oils (they are different from micellar waters, which need to be rinsed, so be careful!)
